Hi, I’m Carrie.
I’m Carrie Kouri, an educator, writer, and lifelong learner with a passion for helping adults, professionals, and international students reach their English language goals. With graduate-level studies in TESOL and Applied Linguistics, a TEFL/TESOL certification, and years of volunteer and professional teaching experience, I bring both academic expertise and real-world understanding to my lessons. My teaching style is supportive, creative, and always tailored to each learner—whether you’re preparing for the TOEFL exam, building confidence in business English, or strengthening everyday communication.
Outside of teaching, I’m also a photographer, writer, and global traveler, and I love bringing these perspectives into my classroom. I believe that learning English is about more than grammar and vocabulary—it’s about connecting across cultures, expressing identity, and opening new opportunities. Through English with Carrie, my goal is to create personalized lessons that empower you to find your voice in English while building confidence, curiosity, and a love for lifelong learning.
My Approach
My approach to teaching is student-centered, practical, and adaptable. I believe that every learner brings unique goals, experiences, and strengths to the classroom, so I design lessons that are tailored to individual needs. Rather than relying only on textbooks or drills, I integrate real-world materials, conversation practice, and creative activities that make learning meaningful and engaging. Whether you want to improve your professional communication, prepare for exams, or feel more confident in everyday English, I focus on building both accuracy and fluency while creating a supportive space where mistakes are seen as steps toward progress.
Dream it
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest.
Build it
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
